I’m Jamie, an Amazon and online retail strategist, marketer, and operator.
Based in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, I'm a B2C growth strategist who thrives on building and scaling things from scratch and creating order in chaos.
Whether it's launching a new department for a retail giant or growing an e-commerce business, I love the challenge and seeing projects come to life.
A couple of career highlights:
- Started my career as a strategy consultant, and did a ton of cool projects where I had to punch way above my weight.
- Burnt out in consulting and reinvented myself in the B2C startup/scaleup world in P&L management and revenue growth roles
- Managed the groundbreaking launch of Luxury Beauty on South Africa's largest online retailer, featuring 9 Estee Lauder brands.
- Did my MSc in Strategy & Management at the London School of Economics (…starting right as covid hit)
- Currently run the $8-fig Amazon & marketplace channel for Dr. Squatch, a leading men's natural personal care co.
- Also do some advisory work for high potential brands who want to scale on Amazon
- Helping found an effective giving non-profit to empower South Africans to make their donations truly impactful.

What I’m working on now
Full Time Work:
I’m the Director of Marketplaces for Dr. Squatch, a leading men’s natural personal care brand.
I’m responsible for all marketplace and online retail channels globally.
This role encompasses strategic planning, data-driven analysis, and the operational rigor of P&L ownership & management.
It's a challenging and rewarding position that requires continuous learning and adaptation – exactly the kind of environment I thrive in.
I love my job!
Plus I have an awesome team. They’re mostly based in L.A. — 9 time zones behind me.
I work ~3PM - 12AM and I LOVE it. I’ve never been more productive.
Asynchronous remote work is the future.
I do miss face-to-face time with my team though, so occasionally head out State-side.

Building for Impact:
In parallel, I'm in the early phases of co-founding a South African effective-giving non-profit.
Effective giving charities are meta-charities that aim to maximize the positive impact of donations by carefully researching and choosing charities with proven track records of achieving the most good with available resources.
